Today's a busy day for Hema n Me at our respective workplaces. She had some stuff to get done with as it's the end of this Financial year, and the beginning of the next. For me, this is a crucial day, of approving our component's bits for integration with the Product. So, we took our headbaths early in the morning, and headed for work early.. Hema was a bit disturbed by the sight of the bengaluru mahanagarapalike sweeper with her broomstick, as she opened the gate to get the scooter out! (in this part of the world, it's said to be a bad omen to see someone with a broomstick early in the morning, on our way out to somewhere)..
Anyways, we just rushed off soon.. and as always Hems dropped me in front of my office which's at a distance of around a km from home. She took a U-turn to stop the scooter in front of the gate, which happens to be the end of a one-way. Bad news always have such precise timing... n so, a Traffic policeman, on a white phutphutiya just stopped in front of us and pointed to the one-way board behind us.. we tried to reason with him that we didn't come that way at all.. infact the 'one-way' board was way behind us.. but he was the last one to be convinced. He asked for the licence and the papers. We opened the small casing under the seat, to find that the papers are not there.. Mebbe we must've taken it out while cleaning the scooter or something! So there we were, in the most pitiful state, on a busy Wednesday morning! The policeman asked for our names, our Father's name, address, phone number, age and jotted down something in kannada (the kannada illiterate us, dont know whether he's written about the wrong lane as well!) in a memo, and handed it over to us, asking us to produce the papers of the scooter, along with the licence at the nearest police station!
planning to go there this Friday, as it is a holiday.. for Good Friday.
just when i thought of relaxing this weekend after a real hectic month!! n going for some shopping as well..
so now, all that time n money is gonna go to a godforsaken police station!!
Sometimes, everything just seems to go totally wrong!!
I just wrote about this to a dear friend, Shalini Grover, who replied back with a very thoughtful and beautiful message :
Yeah I know there are sometimes when everything seems to go all wrong…But read this…
God's Timing is Right:
What ever that happens in life, happens for good.....so stop worrying about the future and forget the past
After Sept. 11th, one company invited the remaining members of other companies who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their available office space. At a morning meeting, the head of security told stories of why these people were alive...... and all the stories were just the 'L I T LE' things.
As you might know, the head of the company survived that day because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One of them missed his bus. One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.
Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment...
Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated.
God is at work watching over you.
Oh by the way, Hema just called up to tell me that the papers and licence were with her in her officebag, and she failed to realise it then!!! We might go to the police station today itself!
